Counselling

Counselling

Counselling can be a great help for anyone suffering with an addiction from drugs or alcohol after they have been detoxed, but there are a few things you need to know. Don’t think by having one or two 50 minute counselling sessions a week will sort out an addiction if you have not been properly detoxed. Because it won’t. Also do be aware ANYONE CAN CALL THEMSELVES A COUNSELLOR. There are NO laws stopping anyone calling themselves a counsellor and practicing on clients. So be very careful who you use. That is why it is better to have your counselling done in a rehabilitation centre than outside. At least this way you will know the counsellor you are dealing with are trained to deal with addiction, which they do all day, everyday.

Counselling is normally done at a practise or the counsellors own home. The sessions can cost anything from £30 to £300 depending which part of the country you are from. London always tends to be more expensive than other areas. The normal price you would expect to pay for drug or alcohol counselling is around £40 -£60 per session. A session is normally 50 minutes. Always ask for your first session free, as most good counsellors offer this. After-all, you need to know if you like and trust the counsellor you are going to be dealing with.
